Milestone site visit with Melton City Council

As part of our ongoing partnership with Melton City Council, we recently welcomed CEO Roslyn Wai and Director of City Futures Sam Romasko to Harkness Memorial Park to see the progress of First Stage construction.

Together with GMCT CEO Andrew Eriksen and Ben Coull from Building Engineering, Senior Project Manager at GMCT, Georgina Thalassinos, led the group on a tour of the Kingfisher Centre foundations, lawn memorial precincts and the future access point to the park at our shared boundary.

Significant progress has been made on the Kingfisher Centre, with Ms Thalassinos commenting, “you can start to imagine how the site will be used”.

Following extensive community consultation and collaboration with Council, the entire site will be fully accessible for all community members.

“You can feel the passion and innovation for the project,” said Ms Wai, as the group discussed the approach to developing the shared community asset.

Mr Eriksen reflected on the legacy of the project and that multiple generations could be together here, whether visiting loved ones or as a final resting place.

The first stage will lay the foundation for the park, creating initial spaces for ceremony, final resting places, and community use.

With construction progressing, we look forward to the memorial park providing open green space and a place for quiet reflection for both Melton and all Melbourne’s west.
